Goals for 2019

Happy 2019 everyone! Hope everyone got off to a good start this year :)

As most everyone is doing, I wanted to share my goals for this new year. I wasn’t particularly successful last year, partially because I set way too many ambitious goals. I definitely plan to be more realistic this year and to work harder to accomplish as many of these as possible.

  1. Get in shape and stay in shape! I’ve already signed up for a ClassPass trialed and booked my first barre and pilates classes for this weekend. I’m hoping I can maintain exercising at least twice a week.

  2. Continue (and hopefully finish) my cruelty free journey. The journey has been going pretty well, but I still have some way to go before I am completely cruelty free. This year will hopefully be the year when I see this journey come to completion :)

  3. Practice conscious consumption. Conscious consumption will always be a work in progress for me, especially as I try to steer away from emotional spending and retail therapy, and, in 2019, I will try to get to a place that I’m happy at. This will include: (1) less impulse/sale purchases, (2) decluttering responsibly, (3) no settling for second-choice items, and (4) more thoughtful and higher quality purchases.

  4. Declutter thoroughly. It seems that I’m always decluttering, but that’s because I always miss or can’t bear to part with a few items, only to realize I should’ve gotten rid of it a few months later. I started doing this at the end of 2018, but in 2019, I’d really like to be more ruthless with passing on what I no longer need.

  5. Save up more money. I wasn’t the best with money this year, and I’ve shared in a previous post how my struggles with retail therapy were especially bad this year. I started doing micro-investments via the Stash app and I hope to double the amount of money I put in my savings this year. Finding a new, better paying job would also help…

  6. Read more regularly. I definitely failed at this last year. I had periods of time when I would go through books at a time, but then, in the second half of the year, I almost completely stopped reading. I don’t know how successful I’ll be, but I want to read on average one book a month.

  7. Grow my Instagram and this blog. I am always working on posting more consistently, but I would also like to focus this year on more content that is meaningful to me.

What are your goals for this year?
